Cheesecake Factory

Well it's another HOT humid day here in NC. Glad I got the yard done early.

Planning on a trip down to the Queen City this afternoon to go to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. Maybe I'll pick up a recipe or two for the Copycat Recipes page.

Almost Forgot My Anniversary!

Well being a guy I did it again and almost forgot my anniversary! Good thing my wife reminded me this morning or I'd be sleeping in the truck tonight! We are going to go out tonight and maybe I'll pick up a new recipe for the CopyCat Recipes page. Ordinarily I'd make dinner, maybe with a recipe from the Valentine's Day recipes page, but since I had to work all day and it's getting late.... a restaurant sounds good to me!

Happy Father's Day - Tatie Pot Recipe

Just a quick note to say HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all our Dads!

Here's a great recipe that's sure to be a favorite for Father's Day. This hearty recipe for Tatie Pot is part of our family dinner recipe collection and was submitted by a site visitor. Geordie said it is a great way to use up some leftover roast and is an old English recipe. He's right and it is simply delicious.

Tatie Pot:

Left over roast beef from day before or when ever...(Sirloin) works really good.
Slice roast into thin slices, as many as you can.
get any root vegetables, carrots, swede, turnip, onions yellow and or red or mixed and cut into large chunks.
hey dont forget the mushrooms.
place all the sliced beef into oven proof dish, do it in layer's, spread the veg over the top.
Now the stock, any will do home made is always best, depending on dish used you may need quite a lot I like to add beef concentrate ( to your taste ) some soy sauce etc, or anything else you like for that matter.
Mix and pour over the contents of dish. Get some large Yukon Gold Potatoes, ( Taties or Spuds in England ) Wash but don't peel, slice about 1/4 inch thick, place in layer's over lapping each other in dish, do 3 or 4 layer's Stock must cover or nearly cover the top layer of Taties.
Place in pre-heated oven at 350F, Center of stove. Bake for 1 or 1-1/4 Hr's.
move up to near the top of grill,(broiler) grill for 15 mins or till top layer starts to brown.
This is Yummie, beef is tender, the veg is great and the juice is MMMMMM, you will need lots of good crusty french bread for this to mop up the juice. Hope you enjoy.

Gardening and Lawn Work

It's been a busy day of yard work and gardening. Seems like the weeds never stop growing!.
My garden is doing good this year, however I lost some of my squash with the heavy rains we've had. But man the lettuce, tomatoes and radishes are doing great!
I've had so much that I can't give it away fast enough. I love using green bags to store it all in as it keeps my garden veggies fresher longer.
Even with all the rain we've had my grass still has a few brown spots (probably due to the dogs!) I put out some Quick Lawn grass seed about 2 weeks ago to help cover the bare spots and am amazed at how well that stuff works! It's as good as Patch Perfect. I use the Patch perfect for small spots, but for the larger areas, Quick Lawn is great stuff.
